AH-64D (c) Eagle Dynamics, Inc.The AH-64D has formed the backbone of the US Army's combat helicopter force since 2003. Based on the AH-64A, the "Delta" version is a tandem-crew helicopter with the pilot in the rear seat and the co-pilot/gunner (CP/G) in the front seat. Armed with a 30mm machine gun under the nose, Hellfire missiles and 2.75-inch stub-wing missiles, the AH-64D has proven itself in Iraq and Afghanistan against a variety of threats.
