In DCS, there is a menu for sparking that can be navigated using the keyboard. It is called up by pressing the # key. Then the main menu opens.

In the air, you have to open the menu with RAlt + # to communicate with the tower. As this is very inconvenient, we recommend that you also change this function to the # key. Then you can always reach the tower with the same key.

Depending on the aircraft equipment, there may be several radios for different purposes. This is explained in detail in the courses for the respective aircraft.

The radio messages for the basic courses are explained below.

Main Menu

In the main menu, select to whom the radio message should be sent:

F5. ATC

This means the Tower. However, you still have to select which aerodrome you want to contact. The airfield closest to you is always at the top of the list. F1.:

The content of the following menu depends on the situation:

• You are on the apron and the engine / powerplant is off: Engine start
• You are on the apron and the engine / powerplant is running: Taxi clearance
• You have received taxi clearance: Take-off clearance
