1. Model Viewer

With the ModelViewer you can look at all 3D models of the game and take nice screenshots or look at details. You can also load the cockpits into it.

A detailed description follows later.

2. Dedicated Server

Dedicated Server

A dedicated server is supposed to make it possible to host a mission while consuming fewer resources than the normal game.

This has been around for a long time in other games. But most games were designed differently from the beginning, so that a dedicated server could be made available more easily. Unfortunately, this was not the case with DCS. For the developers, the creation of a dedicated server was and is a great challenge.

While in other games the installation files of a dedicated server need much less space on the hard disk than the original game and partly also run under Linux, this is still a thing of the future with DCS. At present, it is the normal game, but it is started without a graphical user interface. This reduces the demands on CPU and memory. But it can only be run under Windows, or in Linux with Windows emulation (see below).

In the future, we will compile everything worth knowing about the dedicated server here.
For now, here are some important links:

2.1. Run Old Version on Server

To run a server with an old version use DCS_Updater.exe to go back to specific version:

https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1876747

After that start your server with "DCS.exe --norender --server" instead of DCS_updater.exe.
